A trustworthy document combines a legible representation, competent source, type, issuer, version, status and a verifiable authenticity mechanism. GOV explains how documents are intended to work; when the service becomes available, issuance, consultation and verification will take place in the competent Sistema Candeia module.
The document references the person or fact; it does not create the person by itself.
Materially relevant changes must be detectable or recorded.
Validity, revocation and replacement must be verifiable when applicable.
Verifying one attribute should not require disclosure of the entire document.
A change of format, key or provider must not erase legitimate history.
Internal validity will never be presented as automatic acceptance by third parties.
The interface, card, PDF, QR code or printout are ways of presenting information. Authority remains with the competent registry or module, with its own chain of authenticity, version and status.

Use the identity page for identification documents, the passport page for the planned travel document, certificates for representations of records, verification to check authenticity/status, and external acceptance to understand precisely what Candeia can — and cannot — claim before third parties.
